Live Christmas Tree Disposal:  You can dispose of your Christmas tree in one of two ways:

  1. If you would like to place it at the curb for removal on garbage day, that is fine.  Just remember that if it is more than 5 feet in length, it needs to be cut in half.
  2. On one day only, January 8, 2018, you can take your Christmas Tree to 1203 Cedarwood Drive, Joliet, IL and have your Christmas tree composted.  There will be a large drop off container from 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. that day only.   All decorations and lights must be completely removed and you do not need to cut the tree in half.   Please note that is drop off is weather dependent.  If there is a snow storm, the Roadways staff that would man this will not be available and an alternate date will be posted here and on the City's Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Yard Waste: Yard waste is collected weekly from April 3, 2017 through the first week of December. December 8, 2017 will be the final day for Yard Waste pick up in 2017.  Yard Waste pickup will start earlier in 2018.  The first day for yard waste pickup will be March 12, 2018.  Yard waste materials consist of grass and shrubbery cuttings, leaves, tree limbs, and other materials accumulated as the result of care of lawns, shrubbery, vines, and trees.
