Joliet Named "Tree City USA" for 27th Consecutive Year Arbor Day Celebration and Poster Contest Winners Announced
Friday, April 27, 2018 has been proclaimed Arbor Day in the City of Joliet with an official celebration taking place Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Ridge Elementary School, 1900 Caton Ridge Dr. All students will participate in the Arbor Day Celebration and tree planting ceremony.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will be closing the Jefferson Street (eastbound Route 30) moveable bridge over the DesPlaines River for inspection and survey work beginning Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 7:00 AM.

City of Joliet Awarded Grant Funding for Study of Prison
The Illinois State Historic Preservation Office has announced that the City of Joliet will receive approximately $40,000 in grant funding to complete a Conditions Analysis and Structural Assessment on all structures within the 16-acre western compound of the former Joliet Correctional Center.
Distracted Driving Enforcement from April 16-30
In support of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the Joliet Police Department is conducting enforcement from April 16 through 30. This campaign will focus on enforcement of applicable State distracted driving laws in addition to other traffic laws.
