Low Temps in the Forecast for Joliet & Will County

Extreme cold is in the forecast for the City of Joliet and Will County for the next several days. Temperatures for the next three days are expected to be in the single digits with wind chill values as low as -25 due to winds gusting as high as 30mph. A wind chill advisory is in effect for Thursday, Jan. 24 and Friday, Jan. 25.

Next week’s forecast includes even colder temperatures with highs remaining below zero and record breaking lows. In all likelihood the National Weather Service will issue additional advisories next week. Residents are advised to remain aware of the forecast over the next several days.

Buildings that are open to the public during regular business hours may also be able to accommodate those seeking shelter from the extreme temperatures. Residents are encouraged to keep weekend and business hours in mind when checking on locations and to always call a facility prior to arriving to ensure they are operating as a warming center.

Please check on the elderly, those with medical conditions and those with special needs during periods of extreme cold weather. Please make sure that you have working smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
